ARABIC WOOD TYPE
The typefaces chosen for the wood type are picked based on the different styles of arabic script: Naskh, Thuluth, Ruq’ah, Kufic, Maghribi and Geometric/Pixels, in different positions [initial,medial,final].
The woodtype tries different forms from adapting the block to the shape of the letter, working with smaller point size to trying the dynamics of working with ligatures and without.

PROOF PRINTING PRESS
“If you don’t have access to the tool then make it”. made out of maple wood, this is the first prototype of this proof press.

PRINTS
Contemporary Arabic prints were printed using the produced Arabic wood type. The prints reflect the form of the arabic letters and the imperfection produced in the offset created by the overlaping of the inks.

WOOD TYPE AND PRESS MANUAL
This manual shows the process of creating the wood type and the press with the measurments and production technique. The manual is riso printed and then letterpressed with the wood type.
