A Collaboration on Film, Art, and Design

Project Overview
In collaboration with Art and Technology (AXT) students from Sogang University, this project invites students to engage in a cross-disciplinary teamwork experience. Together, they will develop a pop-up exhibition or showcase that merges experiential event branding, public art installations, and information design systems. By integrating research, ideation, and prototyping, the final output will span both physical and digital mediums, resulting in a cohesive and immersive exhibition experience.
Concept – Reimagined Scenes
Students will select a film from a curated collection and conduct in-depth analysis, focusing on narrative, themes, and visual language. A pivotal aspect of this project is the graphic translation of a key film element (such as a theme, symbol, or scene) into a physical object, sculpture, or interactive installation. This tangible creation will serve as a bridge between 2D graphic design, storytelling through moving images, and three-dimensional spaces.
The collaboration culminates in a joint exhibition/showcase where students from both institutions will present their work, highlighting the intersection of graphic design, moving image, and object-based storytelling.
The Exhibition
Reimagined Scenes is a collaborative exhibition exploring memory, emotion, and human connection, brought to life through four distinct installations designed by VCUarts Qatar Graphic Design students. Each piece is reinterpreted through moving image works created by the Art and Technology students from Sogang University in South Korea, seamlessly blending physical and digital storytelling. The exhibition offers a rich, multisensory experience, encouraging the audience to engage with memory and emotion in thought-provoking ways.
The Exhibition was on view at the VCUart Qatar Project spaces. Video works where then also exhibited at Sogang University Gallery in Seoul, South Korea.
