Materials Library M7 Pop-up Exterior Design

Index of Matter is a temporary pop-up installation developed by (in)finite thought in collaboration with VCUarts Qatar's Materials Library for M7, Doha. The installation transforms the library's collection into an immersive visual surface.
The exterior intervention highlights materiality as both subject and medium, combining physical material samples sourced from the Materials Library with large-scale graphics generated from macro photographs of the collection. By magnifying textures, patterns, and surfaces, the installation reimagines familiar materials as abstract visual landscapes, encouraging visitors to look more closely at the samples that shape design practice.
As part of the project, we developed the exhibition title in Arabic—فهرس المواد للسائل والمرتاد—a phrase composed to evoke the idea of an index of matter for both the curious inquirer and the passerby. The title intentionally employs rhyme and rhythmic language, echoing the poetic structure of our collective's Arabic name, الفكر اللامحدود في عجائب الوجود, reinforcing our interest in language as a material and conceptual design tool.
